NaNoWriMo: Vectors

I will be marginally participating in NaNo this year. I’m not signed up this year, or participating in any groups. I will however be keeping track of my word count and writing at every possible moment. Vectors already has a wordcount of around 12k so I’m ahead of the game so to speak. Hence why I’m not officially participating.

A little about what I’m working on.

Vectors: A Kinetics Sequence Side Story

Lillian Blake is pretty sure she can fly. Lillian doesn’t think that’s weird, because everything in her small town is weird. Including the “power station” hidden deep in the forest. Miranda is an escapee from a hidden facility called the Institute for Telekinetic Research. Together they will dismantle a secret.

From the Kinetics Sequence page.

I made a spoof cover and the backing to the actual cover (not sold on the color tho, to be honest). It’s weird using a lot of physics terms in the titles for my books, because more often than not I get someone commenting that the covers (usually in their early versions or the spoof cover) look like the covers to textbooks.

This makes me laugh more than anything.

My project this year is Vectors: a side story for Kinetics. I was entertaining the idea of making it a side series but for the moment it will be just be a singular novella at around 50,000 words. This book will be 2.5 in the Kinetics Sequence, taking place between books 2 and 3.

I had to make sure that Vectors wasn’t just a flight of fancy but actually fitting into the larger timeline for a reason and purpose. Therefore the things that happen in 2.5 will have an impact on some of the events in 3.

Vectors has been “in progress” for at least a decade. I knew I wanted to write this side story but just now how I wanted to fit it all in. I’ve got it now. So it’s just a matter of getting it written.

TO WRITING LAND I GO!
